Creative misfits
The greatest lie advertising has sold us is that creativity belongs to capitalism.
We're going to Cannes to prove it wrong, on camera + on stage, with the most interesting creative minds we can find.
Sound like you? We’d love to chat.
CREATIVITY AS A TOOL FOR LIBERATION
Advertising has been around for a blink. Creativity has been around as long as humankind. We've been making, building, telling stories, and using our creativity to free each other since the dawn of time. Then advertising came along, slapped its name on the word "creativity," and convinced a lot of brilliant people that it's something you do for a paycheck.
That’s a lie. Creativity is older than advertising.
We believe the people who hold power in advertising are the people most primed to change the world, but they need a reminder + support to do that during scary and uncertain times.
We’ve been doing this with a focus on disability for over a decade, but we know that all social issues are interconnected.
We’re looking for the world’s greatest storytellers to redefine two things:
creativity, and the world.
Creative Misfits is an anthology and an interview series about what creativity actually is when it's pointed at the world instead of a quarterly target. It’s a collection of essays compiled from the industry’s most powerful and creative minds who want to use the immense power of advertising to reshape the world we’re living in.
Misfit Media was built on the belief that those who create content create culture, so we exist to make inclusive creativity irresistible. We’re building a community of the world’s greatest storytellers and creative leaders who want to build content rooted in care, equity and humanity without losing the fun and magic that the industry holds.
NOT ANOTHER SHOW + TELL PANEL
Creative Misfits is an anthology of essays from the industry's biggest names alongside the activists and organizers working to build a world that works for the people, all answering the same two questions:
How do you define creativity
How has creativity, by your definition, been used to change the world?
Cannes LIONs calls itself the Festival of Creativity, but so much of it is a bougie networking contest. While we’re featuring the industry’s heavy hitters who have done this well across their tenure, we know the people who are the actual creative backbone of the industry need a shot to say their piece, even if they can’t drop thousands on a speaking slot or a PR team to pitch them.
